A pair of high-ranking senators are criticizing the mainstream media and Big Tech for censoring and ignoring recent developments related to the Joe and Hunter Biden scandal.
The chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee, Senator Ron Johnson, said that the media has been ignoring a report put out by his committee last month as well as recent developments relating to Hunter Biden’s emails.
He pointed out that the 87-page report revealed an intricate network of connections between the Biden family and players around the world, including Chinese nationals. He added that the findings raise a lot of “troubling issues” and the fact that the mainstream media is suppressing this important information is a scandal.
Another senator who has been speaking out on the matter is Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa. Johnson and Grassley carried out an investigation into the business dealings between Hunter Biden and China and Ukraine while his father served as vice president.
Their interim report showed Hunter taking part in questionable financial transactions with characters such as the wife of Moscow’s former mayor and individuals with ties to the Chinese Communist Party. And although Senator Rand Paul said he would be sending the report to the Department of Justice to be investigated for criminal activity, top Democrats have criticized the report and called for Republicans to stop investigating the Bidens.
Grassley also spoke out about the censorship by Big Tech of a New York Post story that provides further evidence of wrongdoing on the part of Hunter Biden and his family. That story exposed emails that were extracted from Hunter Biden’s laptop that showed that he introduced his father to a top executive at the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma Holdings, while he was vice president. Hunter was given a role on the company’s board that paid $50,000 a month despite a serious lack a relevant experience, and Joe has denied involvement in Burisma on several occasions.
The New York Post story also presented evidence from the computer’s hard drive, including photos, emails and video featuring Hunter Biden and other parties involved in smoking crack cocaine and engaging in sexual acts with underage girls.
Both Facebook and Twitter censored the report by reducing its distribution. This meant that people who wanted to share the story using their accounts were unable to do so. This censorship attracted the attention of conservative lawmakers and prompted Grassley to criticize them on the Senate floor on Monday.
He said: “Last week, news broke about Hunter Biden’s questionable financial dealings. That information, allegedly from Hunter Biden’s laptop, appears to show that Joe Biden may have been more aware of his son’s financial deals with foreign despots and criminals than he’s admitted to the American people.”
The social media platforms took a lot of heat, with many experts accusing them of interfering in the election. The Republican National Committee filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission saying that the censorship of the story, particularly when it comes to Joe Biden’s knowledge of his son’s overseas business dealings, equates to an “illegal corporate in-kind political contribution” to Biden’s campaign.
These laws were put in place for a reason, and chief among them is to protect a free and fair elections process. This includes people having the freedom to read news and share ideas without being censored by Big Tech.
The American people deserve access to information that could influence their voting decisions, especially when it relates to illegal activities carried out by one of the candidates and the potential for extortion. We all know how much coverage this story would get if they had found information like this on one of Trump’s sons’ laptops, while the mainstream media and Big Tech continue to cover up Biden’s crimes and try to discredit those who do speak out about them.
